Intermission is an authorised break from study for medical or other reasons. Students are not permitted to study or undertake any form of employment while on intermission.
Eligibility criteria, application guidance and futher information can be found on the Cambridge Students websites:
Application for intermission should be made through your CamSIS self-service. It is important you apply swiftly once you know you will be unable to study for more than two weeks. Intermission can only be backdated by a maximum of 30 days from the date you make your application, and cannot be applied for retrospectively. If your circumstances mean you are unable to make the application yourself please get in touch with your College Tutor who should be able to help you.
Note the application form forces you to choose termly periods but it is often the case that the time you need does not coincide with term dates. Please select the most appropriate term AND ensure you include the actual dates of your absence in the free text box on the form. Your application will be considered on the basis of the dates you provide.
If you are studying for a research degree, your submission date will be extended to take account of the time you have not been studying.
The websites above also give information on the proceedures for returning from intermission.
